some thoughts
Our lives are unique. We are shaped by countless factors, influences and by the choices we make. Underlying this we share a commonality - we are driven by much the same needs, desires, patterns of behavior and aspirations. This raises many questions for the inquiring mind and a search for meaning, something that may illuminate the backdrop to our lives, be that in terms of potential growth on a secular or spiritual level ~ or both. We are also driven by a need to survive and replicate at a genetic biological level. In terms of our idea of ourselves, we express individuality and creativity. We have both tremendous potential and choice. Somewhere weaving in and out of this spectrum lies the nature of our reality.
. I tend to draw inspiration from these themes and my work hopefully communicates something of the nature of this multi-faceted and inter-dimensional environment we inhabit.
The positive impulse behind the creation of art should be actively encouraged and celebrated, especially in the young where it arises naturally and spontaneously. In this age of seemingly ever increasing violence and fear, the value of positive creativity experienced in our childhood reaches far beyond the immediate, to imbue the lives of our children with extraordinary potential.
Art fulfills many functions just as there are as many differing intentions behind the creative process, however we express it, - a common thread that stretches back to the dawn of our history to the breathtaking and beautiful images of our ancestors - a thread that unites us all.
